PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT:

Storefront Louvers

Storefront louvers typically represent a relatively small segment of the louver industry. However, they are arguably the most critical from an aesthetic standpoint, as they sit at eye level and are the first thing the public sees.

That’s why we designed a purpose-built storefront louver that not only meets AMCA-540 and AMCA-550 standards, but also eliminates the need for mullions, features clean mitered outside corners, and—most importantly—is completely sightproof.

INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHT:

Coachella 2026 Art Installations

Coachella's 2026 art program brings four inhabitable commissions to the Empire Polo Field: Sabine Marcelis's glowing PVC labyrinth Maze, Kyriakos Chatziparaskevas's 40-foot cactus-inspired Starry Eyes lanterns, LADG's anthropomorphic steel totem Visage Brut, and Desert Drifters Kite Club's eight oversized deadstock-textile kites. Returning duo Dedo Vabo also debuts Network Operations, a three-story broadcast compound staffed by costumed hippo performers.

INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHT:

AI Tool for Architects

Stantec architects Hans Davis and David Lee share lessons from an internal design competition where teams used AI tools to design a fictional aerospace headquarters. They applied AI to massing, floor plans, material selection, parametric façades, and rendering, in one case cutting a façade task from 17 hours to 2. The authors offer eight mantras, including treating AI as a tool rather than a decision-maker, experimenting to overcome fear, and pairing AI with established platforms like Grasshopper and Revit.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT:

Aire Renaissance — 525 6th Avenue - The Village West - designed by BKSK Architects

This prominent residential building required a custom ventilated bulkhead that would satisfy both demanding mechanical performance needs and strict sightproof design requirements.

To simplify installation, we shipped the louver units in knock-down assembly (as individual “sticks”). This allowed the installer to easily transport components to roof level and store them safely out of the way of other trades until installation began.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT:

Aire Renaissance — 575 Lexington

This project featured very strict airflow requirements within relatively small openings. It serves as an excellent lesson for both architects and mechanical engineers: even when a manufacturer is named as the Basis of Design.

Our team had prepared multiple rounds of detailed pressure drop charts. These proved invaluable during shop drawing review, allowing the construction team to fine-tune the exact louver sizes while still fully meeting AMCA-550 requirements.

PARTNER NEWS:

What Do Partners and Shop Drawings Have to Do with Each Other?

At our company, we consider every customer a true partner in the project, and that philosophy shapes everything we do, right down to our shop drawings.

When we prepare shop drawings, we know that information matters to the installers and architects on the job. Details like ACM, terra cotta, porcelain, and rain screens often reveal important sequencing concerns.

Our shop drawings are a reflection of our commitment to the partnership, designed to support every trade and decision-maker on the project.
