Aire Renaissance Journal — A Turning Point in Architectural Louvers
Feature Profile: Lorraine Cangemi
My career has always been about showing up, rolling up my sleeves, and making the most of whatever comes my way. Lorraine Cangemi is a certified WBENC Women’s Business Enterprise and a driving force behind Aire Renaissance’s success in architectural louvers.
Did You Know? “No Mullions”
Did you know that when selecting louvers, just because you like the look and airflow performance, it doesn’t mean that model can be detailed with “no mullions”? Louvers are engineered and AMCA tested a certain way and often that includes jambs/mullions. So, the best course of action is to check the width of your opening and see if it exceeds the louver model criteria without the need of mullions. If it exceeds it, time to call a louver expert!
Product Spotlight: Acoustical Screen Walls
Selecting an acoustical screen wall starts with: 1. Knowing the sound transmission coefficient (STC), 2. The sight cut off requirements, 3. Vertical or horizontal blade direction, 4. Mullions or no mullions. We are the only manufacturer who provides extruded acoustical blades allowing designers to provide longer spans with shallower systems. Arizona State University selected Aire Renaissance based on a high STC with minimal depth, saving the construction team material and installation costs.
Educational Article: Architects Billing Index (ABI) — February 2026
The AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score for February 2026 was 49.4, meaning that the share of firms reporting that billing declined was only slightly greater than the share of firms reporting that billings increased (a score of 50 would mean that those shares were equal). In addition, inquiries increased again this month, after declining slightly in January.
Event: AIA Presentation — A Practical Approach to Specifying Louvers Correctly
A Practical Approach to Specifying Louvers Correctly… The first time. This entire presentation is geared for all experience levels and we will show you how to mitigate your personal and professional risks. We have had countless comments from folks who walked in for the food, and walked out with an increased thought leadership and added value to their next project. Yes, we cover Hidden Louvers too!
Project Spotlight: Aire Renaissance — 262 5th Ave, NYC
Aire Renaissance was the only manufacturer who could provide a 14-foot blade span with no mullions and with an AMCA-550 certification. This was no easy feat, however early planning and unitizing our system into the curtainwall allowed installation with pinpoint accuracy. Keep an eye out for the completion of this monumental design by SLCE Architects, developed by Five Points Development, managed by CM & Associates and installed by Gualini.
Project Spotlight: Aire Renaissance — 520 5th Ave, NYC
A sophisticated and clean look was required for Aire Renaissance’s vertical AMCA-550 louvers to be installed into an arched head condition required to match Kohn Peterson and Fox Architect’s delicate facade. This is one way to blend louvers into facades with minimal customization.
Industry Highlight: Waterline — Austin, TX
This 74-story mixed-use supertall tower reaches approximately 1,025 feet, making it the tallest building in Texas upon completion. It includes office space, retail, restaurants, a hotel, and residential units. The project demands advanced engineering for its height in a region with variable soil conditions, including deep foundations, seismic considerations, wind resistance, and intricate facade systems for energy efficiency and aesthetics.
Industry Highlight: The Bridge Rockaway, NY
After eight years of planning and development, Bridge Rockaway opened last fall in Brooklyn at the corner of Newport and Thatford avenues. The development is a new hybrid project that includes light manufacturing in its podium and supportive housing for low-income residents in the building above. The project was spearheaded by social service organization The Bridge, along with the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center (GMDC).
